How Does a Seed Come into Existence
Driving along the Canterbury Plains in the South Island of New Zealand it was vast and flat. I reflected on life being like a landscape. As my journey continued, I was drawn to the expanse of luscious green fields.
My mind began to ponder "How does a seed come into existence?"
I explored my thoughts, discovering a process called germination. The root grows down to take up nutrients from the soil, and the shoot grows up towards the sunlight to become a stem. Over time the seed becomes a seedling.
Excitement and curiosity washed over me. I envisioned my own body like the germinating seed. Just as a seed must undergo a breaking process to sprout and thrive into a flourishing plant, we too must embrace vulnerability and open ourselves up to new experiences to achieve growth and transformation.
A seed begins in a dormant state. It requires to be buried in the soil. Human dormancy can be viewed as a time for rest and reflection. A contemplative silence allows for inward reflection. Just like the earth lying fallow, sometimes, our souls require time for stillness and preparation.
God says about our seed in Mark 4:26-27 : I speak to every seed I've sown right now in the Name of Jesus, and I command you to grow, be fruitful, and multiply to become a great and abundant harvest in my life.
Just as the seed stays buried in the soil for some time to sprout and grow, we require to be patient and nurture ourselves. Like the seed does not become a seedling overnight, we too must allow divine wisdom to penetrate our hearts, and minds deeply over time.
As the seed transforms and emerges as a strong plant, the Word, when allowed to abide within us, will lead to spiritual growth and a more profound connection to our faith.
As we traverse the landscape of life and ebb and flow above and below sea level, spiritual awakenings can occur. Many areas of our lives can change for the better, including our sense of meaning and purpose.
Release all resistance. Allow yourself to flourish as you sow your spiritual seeds.
“Whatsoever a man soweth,” says Paul, “that shall he also reap” (Gal. 6:7).
